Help!

This story from the Mahabharata teaches us that no matter how much we rely on others, it is only God who is always there to help us in times of need. When Draupadi was helpless, she called out to Lord Krishna, and He came to her aid.

Introduction

In the infamous game of dice, Yudhisthir lost everything: his kingdom, his wealth, his brothers, and even himself. When Draupadi was gambled away, Duryodhana ordered his brother Dushyasana to drag her into the court.

The Humiliation

As Draupadi was brought into the court, Duryodhana declared her to be his servant. He then ordered his brother Dushyasana to disrobe her. Draupadi looked towards her husbands and the elders for help, but they were all bound by the results of the game and could not intervene. Desperate, she appealed to everyone present in the court, but none of them came to her aid.

Lord Krishna’s Intervention

When Draupadi called out to Lord Krishna, He immediately answered her plea. As Dushyasana tried to pull her sari, Krishna miraculously added layers upon layers of cloth, making it impossible for him to disrobe her. Exhausted, Dushyasana finally gave up, and Draupadi was saved.
