Sri Ramkrishna Paramhansa shows the importance of compassion and remaining true to one’s nature, despite any harm or challenges.

Introduction

One day, while Sri Ramkrishna Paramhansa and his disciples were walking along a river, they spotted a scorpion struggling to survive in the water. Sri Ramkrishna, feeling great compassion for the creature, decided to help. He reached out and lifted the scorpion with his bare hands.

The Sting

In response to being touched, the frightened scorpion stung Sri Ramkrishna, causing him a sharp pain. Despite this, he dropped the scorpion back into the river. But the creature continued to struggle for its life. Sri Ramkrishna, undeterred by the pain, again reached into the water and lifted the scorpion to safety. However, the scorpion stung him again.

The Disciples' Question

Seeing this, the disciples were confused and concerned. They asked Sri Ramkrishna, "Master, when the scorpion stung you the first time, it caused you great pain. Why did you help it again after it stung you a second time?"
