113. The Beggar and the King

Once a king was in his court when a young beggar came to him and asked for some money. He also said, “I am very poor; God hasn't given me anything. Please have mercy on me.” Hearing this the king said, "Well, I will give you two gold coins but you will have to give me your both legs.” Then the beggar replied, “If I would give your legs then how I will walk.” Then the king said, “If you can't give your legs then give me your both hands. For this, I will give you five gold coins.” The beggar again denied giving his both hands. Now the king smiled and asked for his both eyes in exchange of 20 gold coins. Now the beggar got angry and said in exchange of even a thousand gold coins he would never give him his precious body parts. Then the king started laughing loudly and said, “If God has given such precious body parts then how can be you poor? You can do any work with them and earn money." *

Moral: God has given us body as a precious gift.
