The Tale of Tulsi's Faith
Tulsi, the devoted wife of Jalandhar, who was the King of Asuras, faced a conflict. Her devotion to Lord Narayan (Vishnu) was unshakable, despite her husband's belief in destroying Lord Shiva. Under the guidance of Shukracharya, Tulsi embarked on completing a series of austerities to protect her husband, Jalandhar, from harm.
But when she completed the last ritual of circumambulating Lord Narayan's idol, she realized that Lord Narayan Himself had taken the form of Jalandhar and disrupted the ritual. This disruption, though seemingly unfair, led to the revelation that her husband’s pride would lead to his fall, and Narayan was acting to protect the universe from Jalandhar's destructive path.
The Curse of Tulsi
Angry and disillusioned, Tulsi cursed Lord Narayan, stating that He would have to take birth as a human and experience the same suffering. Lord Narayan accepted the curse with grace, saying that her devotion was pure, and He was bound by His duty to protect the universe. He assured Tulsi that He would bear the consequences of her curse and, as part of His vow, would come into the world to fulfill her prophecy.
