The Chanting of the Mantra
A young man called Ramanand enrolled in an ashram to study under a guru. The guru gave him a mantra. The next day, Ramanand gathered around 400-500 villagers from the village on the grounds of the ashram. Then he began to recite the mantra in a loud voice, and the villagers repeated the mantra after him.
The Guru's Inquiry
Ramanand's Guru then asked him, "What is all this?" Ramanand replied, "Guruji, I am getting the villagers to recite the mantra that you gave me." The Guru asked him, "Why did you do so?" Ramanand answered, "You said that by chanting this mantra one can attain Heaven."
The Guru's Warning
The Guru said, "But I also said that if you disclose the mantra to anybody, you will incur sin and will go to hell." Ramanand laughed and replied...
