The Sick Man
A lesson in gratitude from a blind, ill man who teaches us what it means to truly be thankful to Allah.
The Encounter
A traveller from a desert once saw a blind man on his travels. The old man was sick, and his body was full of sores. He seemed to be in great pain. Yet, Allah’s name was constantly on his lips. He would say, “Allah is Merciful! He loves me and helps me be healthy and happy.”
The traveller was stunned. “But you seem so ill, Sir. It is difficult for you to move. The sores give you pain and you cannot see. What then are you thankful for?”
