Yudhisthir and the God of Dharma - A Moral Story for Children
Yudhisthir and the God of Dharma
Discover the inspiring tale of Yudhisthir, a symbol of righteousness, and his encounter with the God of Dharma during his exile.

The Lake of Mystery

Yudhisthir, the eldest of the Pandavas, was known for his unshakeable commitment to Dharma. During their exile, the Pandavas and Draupadi once felt extremely thirsty. Yudhisthir sent Sahadev to search for water. Sahadev found a beautiful lake but as he tried to drink, a yaksha appeared and warned him to answer questions before drinking. Ignoring the warning, Sahadev drank and fell dead.

One by one, Nakul, Arjun, and Bheem followed and suffered the same fate. Finally, Yudhisthir arrived, found his brothers lying lifeless, and was confronted by the yaksha. The yaksha demanded answers to his questions in exchange for water and a chance to revive one brother.

Wisdom and Fairness

Yudhisthir answered all the questions wisely. Pleased, the yaksha, who was in fact Yudhisthir's father — the God of Dharma — offered to restore one brother to life. Yudhisthir surprised him by asking for Nakul to be revived, explaining that he wanted to be fair to his two mothers: Kunti and Madri.

Pearls of Wisdom

1. Why did Yudhisthir ask for Nakul to be revived instead of Bheem or Arjun?
Yudhisthir believed in fairness. Since he, the son of Kunti, was alive, he wanted a son of Madri to live too, maintaining justice for both his mothers.
2. What is the moral of this story?
Yudhisthir's unwavering sense of fairness and righteousness teaches us that true Dharma lies in being just, even when faced with difficult choices.
🌟 Moral of the Story: Righteousness and fairness are the greatest strengths. Upholding Dharma is the highest form of justice. 🌟
