Introduction
King Darius ruled Babylon with wisdom and fairness. Among his appointed administrators was Daniel, a godly and capable man. However, other officials grew jealous of Daniel's position and plotted against him.
The Deceptive Law
Knowing Daniel's devotion to God, the envious men tricked the King into passing a law that no one could pray to any god or man except the king. Anyone who broke this law would be thrown into a den of lions.
Daniel's Unshaken Faith
Despite the law, Daniel continued to pray to God three times a day. When the conspirators informed the King, he was distressed, as he respected Daniel greatly. But the law could not be changed, and Daniel was thrown into the lion’s den.
A Sleepless Night
King Darius fasted and spent a sleepless night in anxiety. At dawn, he rushed to the den and called out, "Daniel, servant of the living God, has your God been able to save you from the lions?"
The Miracle
To the King’s joy, Daniel responded that he was unharmed because God had sent an angel to shut the lions' mouths. His faith had protected him.
