Humayun and Guru Angad Dev Ji

The story of how Emperor Humayun learned humility from Guru Angad Dev Ji, a moment that became a valuable lesson in wisdom.

The Background

After Humayun, son of Babar, was defeated by Sher Shah in a battle, he fled to Lahore, hoping that prayers from saints would help him regain his throne. He heard that Guru Nanak had prayed for Babar's success, so he decided to meet Guru Nanak. However, upon learning that Guru Nanak had passed away, he decided to meet Guru Angad Dev Ji, the new Guru.

Humayun's Pride

Humayun, expecting to be treated as a ruler, arrived at Guru Angad's place and stayed seated on his horse, waiting for the Guru to come to him. Guru Angad, deep in meditation, did not notice him. Humayun, insulted by the Guru's lack of acknowledgment, became furious. He drew his sword, intending to strike the Guru down for the perceived insult.

Guru Angad's Response

At that very moment, Guru Angad opened his eyes and looked at Humayun, who was holding his sword in anger. Guru Angad, without a hint of fear, calmly spoke to him, leaving Humayun ashamed.

Pearls of Wisdom

1. What did Guru Angad say to Humayun?
Guru Angad said, "Oh Humayun, it is surprising that your sword which can so easily kill defenceless fakirs was powerless against Sher Shah."
🌟 Moral: True strength lies not in power or pride, but in humility and wisdom.
