A Farmer by Intellect - A Moral Story
Buddha was once asked by a farmer who was rich and arrogant. Buddha explained how he, too, was a farmer, but in a different way.

Introduction

Buddha used to sustain himself by asking for alms, but many people would tease him or display their anger. Despite this, Buddha remained calm and serene in his responses.

Transformation

One day, Buddha visited a farmer's house. The farmer, rich and arrogant, mocked Buddha for not working hard in the fields. He asked Buddha why he did not work like him in the fields to earn a living.

The Divine Blessing

Buddha calmly replied, "My friend, like you, I too am a farmer." The farmer, in his arrogance, laughed at Buddha, pointing out that Buddha had no farm, animals, or plough. Buddha then explained, "How can you say that I do not have these things?" He went on to explain how he was, in fact, a farmer too, but in a different way.

Pearls of Wisdom

Buddha shared that his farm was the consciousness of the sorrowful, miserable people. He ploughed the fields of their minds, removed the weeds and thorns of ignorance, and sowed seeds of belief in them. From this, he harvested the divine crop of Nirvana.

1. What did Buddha say?
Buddha said, "The consciousness of the sorrowful, miserable people is my farm. I plough the fields of their minds, remove the thorns and weeds of ignorance and sow the seeds of belief in them. Then this farm gives me the divine crop of Nirvana. So, like you, I too am a farmer."
🌟 Moral: True wisdom lies in helping others by cultivating their minds, not by physical labor alone. 🌟
