Introduction
As a child, Syedna Hazrat Ibrahim's father would ask him to sell idols. However, Syedna Hazrat Ibrahim was a true believer in Allah. He asked his father, "Why do you worship idols that cannot respond to you? I am knowledgeable about faith. Do not worship idols." Despite this, his father refused to listen to him.
Challenging the Idols
Syedna Hazrat Ibrahim preached Allah's message to the people, but they ignored him and continued worshipping idols. He decided that he needed to prove to them that idols were mere stones, unable to help or respond to anyone.
The Broken Idols
One day, while the people were at a fair, Syedna Hazrat Ibrahim went to the biggest temple. There, he saw all the idols arranged in an orderly manner, with the largest idol placed at the highest spot, surrounded by offerings. He asked the idols why they were not eating the offerings, but received no reply. Then, he took an axe and began breaking all the idols except for the biggest one. He placed the axe in the hands of the largest idol.
The King's Reaction
When the people returned, they saw the idols broken and immediately suspected Syedna Hazrat Ibrahim. They brought him before the King, accusing him of destroying the idols. The King asked him if he had done it. Syedna Hazrat Ibrahim replied, "Why don’t you ask the idols themselves?" The King replied that the idols could not speak. Hazrat Ibrahim then said, "What a pity! You are praying to idols that cannot even save themselves, let alone help you!"
The Punishment
Despite Hazrat Ibrahim’s logical reasoning, the King was furious and ordered that he be burned alive. The people gathered wood and lit a massive fire. They placed Syedna Hazrat Ibrahim in a cannon to throw him into the fire, but Syedna Hazrat Ibrahim had complete faith that Allah would save him. He prayed earnestly to Allah as he was thrown into the blazing fire.
Miracle in the Fire
While Syedna Hazrat Ibrahim was in the fire, Allah commanded the fire to become cool and safe for him. The people were shocked to see that he was unharmed, and the fire had no effect on him. Syedna Hazrat Ibrahim emerged from the fire unharmed, a clear sign of Allah's protection.
