God Himself Helps Us
A moving parable on how deeply God loves His devotees, told through a king and his son.
A King's Doubt
One day, a king asked Guru Nanak a question: "Guru ji, you once said that God Himself helps His devotees. But why must God do that when He has so many prophets and messengers?"
The Unexpected Turn
Before Guru Nanak could reply, the king’s young son accidentally slipped and fell into a river. Without hesitation, the king jumped in and rescued the child himself.
After the boy was safe, the king returned to continue the conversation. Guru Nanak asked him, "Why did you jump in yourself instead of sending a servant?"
The king replied, "My son is too precious. I couldn't risk his life by trusting someone else to save him."
Guru Nanak’s Divine Insight
Then Guru Nanak smiled and offered his timeless reply.
Pearls of Wisdom
1. What did Guru Nanak say?
Guru Nanak said, "O King! Just as your love for your son made you act personally, God’s love for His devotees is the same. That is why He Himself helps them in times of need."
💙 Moral: God’s love for His devotees is not distant or delegated. It is direct, personal, and unconditional—just like the love of a parent for a child.
